Seconds with Snake
Team,
As we move into the summer season, I wanted to take a moment to personally thank each of you for your continued dedication to S.M.M.C.
Summer represents one of the busiest times of year throughout our healthcare system. Increased tourism, seasonal illnesses, heat-related emergencies, staffing shortages, overcrowded waiting rooms, and the general collapse of society all contribute to elevated patient volumes across nearly every department.
Fortunately, I am pleased to report that leadership is fully aware of these challenges.
In fact, we have already developed plans to address them.
While I cannot discuss the details of those plans at this time, I can assure you that several meetings have occurred and additional meetings are scheduled.
That level of preparation should provide comfort to everyone involved.
Many employees have expressed concerns regarding staffing.
I am proud to announce that S.M.M.C. remains fully staffed according to the official staffing matrix developed by leadership.
While some departments may perceive themselves as understaffed, it is important to remember that perception and reality are often different.
For example, if three employees are currently performing the duties of seven employees, one could reasonably argue that staffing remains adequate.
That kind of innovation is what keeps healthcare moving forward.
I would also like to recognize the incredible value each of you brings to this organization.
Our nurses, technicians, environmental services teams, dispatchers, therapists, physicians, EMS personnel, support staff, and countless others remain the foundation upon which this healthcare system operates.
Without your hard work, sacrifice, and willingness to repeatedly absorb additional responsibilities, none of this would be possible.
Similarly, I would like to acknowledge the tremendous contributions made by leadership.
While frontline employees are often visible to patients, many people fail to appreciate the difficult work taking place behind the scenes.
Budget meetings.
Strategic planning sessions.
Executive luncheons.
These efforts require significant commitment and deserve recognition.
I encourage all employees to take a moment this month to appreciate the leaders who continue guiding this organization through challenging times.
We truly are all in this together.
Some of us are simply in much nicer offices.
Finally, I am excited to announce the formation of the Employee Morale Evaluation and Sustainability Committee.
This committee has been tasked with reviewing employee concerns, identifying workplace stressors, evaluating morale trends, and determining the most effective methods for continuing to ignore them.
A preliminary report is expected sometime between now and the eventual heat death of the universe.
Until then, I encourage everyone to remain positive, flexible, and available for additional shifts.
Thank you for everything you do.
Leadership notices your hard work.
Not enough to do anything about it.
But we definitely notice it.
Stay safe, stay engaged, and please stop using "Reply All."
