This one started as a fan request and arrived with a title that more or less chose the musical direction by itself.

Rage Against The Oxygen Machine.

So naturally, it needed to sound like the musical equivalent of somebody losing an argument with a ventilator.

Ventilator alarms are important. They're designed to tell clinicians when something about the patient, airway, circuit or machine needs attention.

They're also remarkably talented at making you question every decision that brought you to this moment.

High pressure.

Low pressure.

Check circuit.

Leak detected.

Flow sensor error.

You troubleshoot.

You check the tube.

You check the cuff.

You check the circuit.

You fix the problem.

You silence the alarm.

Three glorious seconds of peace.

Beep.

And then comes the greatest betrayal of all:

Respiratory walks into the room.

The ventilator immediately stops alarming and sits there quietly as though it has absolutely no idea what you've been complaining about.
