Healthcare Villains

Every healthcare professional knows a villain. Some call too often. Some know everything. Some won't get out of the way. Some rule the emergency department. And some won't let you clock out until every required field is complete. Meet the villains of healthcare.

Lyrics

Intro

Oh good… you made it back so fast I was worried you’d forgotten me

Verse 1

I tried to wait, I really did I told myself, “Be strong, be good” But something felt a little off Right here—no there—well… where it should Oh, I would’ve called my doctor, dear But you know how busy they can be And you always take such lovely care So I thought… why not just send for me?

Pre-Chorus

You don’t mind the trip, I hope? I hate to be a bother… truly …but you always come so quickly

Chorus

Oh honey, don’t you roll your eyes You knew you’d see me back tonight I saved you a seat right by my side Aren’t you glad I called this time? You rush in like my saving grace With that tired look upon your face Oh, I just love our little flights My favorite crew… my favorite nights

Verse 2

Now don’t you start with all those sighs You know I’m not like all the rest I only call when something’s wrong (It’s just… it happens… quite a lot, I guess) And sure, the last ten times were “fine” But what if this one’s different, dear? Wouldn’t you feel just awful bad If you had left me suffering here?

Pre-Chorus

You wouldn’t want that on your heart No… you’re far too kind for that That’s why you keep coming back

Chorus

Oh honey, don’t you roll your eyes You knew you’d see me back tonight I wear that bracelet just for you So you remember who’s inside You rush in like you always do A little late—but I forgive you Oh, I just live for these goodbyes ’Cause I know I’ll see you next time

Bridge

It gets so quiet when you leave… The walls don’t talk, the TV’s dull No one listens quite like you No one stays… no one stays at all So if I bend the truth a bit Or make it sound worse than it seems… Well… you showed up, didn’t you? That’s all I really need

Breakdown

Say you missed me… Go on—say it Tell me I’m your favorite call

Final Chorus

Oh honey, don’t you roll your eyes You’ll miss me when I’m gone one night When silence fills your ambulance And no one calls, and no one cries You rush in like my saving grace But I see right through that tired face Oh, I just love our little flights… Same time tomorrow? Don’t be late

About This Song

Every EMS provider knows a frequent flyer. The address comes across the radio, and before dispatch finishes reading the call notes, you already know who's waiting on the other side of the door.

"Frequent Flyer" introduces one of healthcare's most charmingly manipulative villains: the patient who knows exactly how to get her favorite ambulance crew back for another visit.

She's sweet, affectionate, and endlessly appreciative. She also knows precisely which buttons to push, from guilt-tripping an exhausted medic to suggesting that this time, unlike the previous ten visits, something might actually be wrong.

But underneath the theatrical sweetness and emotional blackmail is something a little less funny.

Loneliness.

Sometimes the ambulance isn't just a ride to the hospital. It's a familiar face, a conversation, and a few minutes of attention in an otherwise empty day.

The song plays with that uncomfortable intersection between unnecessary emergency calls, caregiver frustration, and the very real human need for companionship.

Of course, none of that makes the crew any more excited when the same address comes across the radio tomorrow night.

And you know it will.

Intro

Oh no, no, don’t you worry I’ve been reading, I’ve been learning You can take a step aside I’ll be right here, I’ll guide

Verse 1

I’ve seen posts and threads and charts I’ve done all my research parts Every symptom, every sign All matched up in record time You’ve got training, sure that’s true But I’ve looked this up too

Pre-Chorus

So before you say a thing Let me tell you everything

Chorus

Family knows best, didn’t you hear? I’ve been studying all year You’ve got degrees, I’ve got threads So let me handle this instead Family knows best, step aside I’ve got nothing left to hide You can chart it, do your test But trust me—family knows best

Verse 2

Did you check her oxygen? Have you tried more vitamins? I read honey works as well And essential oils can help That machine might beep and glow But my Facebook friends said “no”

Pre-Chorus

I don’t mean to intervene I just know what all this means

Chorus

Family knows best, can’t you see? I’ve got all the remedies You’ve got charts and fancy tests But trust me—family knows best

Bridge

Doctors, nurses… that’s all fine… But I’ve been scrolling… quite some time… Every post just points to one… Thing you clearly haven’t done…

Break

…did you even try garlic?

Final Chorus

Family knows best, let me lead I know everything you need You can try your little tests But trust me—family knows best

Outro

I’ll just stand right over here… And tell you what to do… …you’re welcome Family Knows Best

About This Song

There's always one.

Every healthcare professional has encountered the family member who knows absolutely everything about medicine despite having no formal medical training whatsoever.

They've done their research. They've read the articles. They've consulted Facebook, watched a few videos, and gathered enough questionable medical advice to confidently challenge an entire emergency department.

Never mind the years of education, clinical experience, or diagnostic equipment. Their cousin shared a post about essential oils, and frankly, that should settle the matter.

"Family Knows Best" introduces another member of the Healthcare Villains lineup: the self-appointed medical expert who mistakes internet research for clinical expertise.

Armed with vitamins, honey, garlic, and an unwavering belief in their own medical knowledge, they're ready to supervise every assessment, question every treatment, and explain exactly what the professionals are doing wrong.

Of course, family involvement and patient advocacy are important parts of healthcare. But there's a difference between asking informed questions and insisting that a Facebook comment section should be running the code.

And after all the arguing, second-guessing, and unsolicited medical advice, our villain has one final message for the exhausted healthcare team:

You're welcome.

Intro

Mmm… what a beautiful day… No rush, no worries… just me and the road

Verse 1

Windows down, I’m feelin’ fine Left lane cruise at twenty-nine Got my coffee, got my song If I’m vibin’, what’s the harm? People rush, I don’t see why Life’s too short to speed on by Take it slow, enjoy the view The world can wait a minute or two

Pre-Chorus

Oh, I see those lights behind me Flashin’ red and blue But they can wait politely I’ve got things I need to do

Chorus

I’m just drivin’ on a Sunday No need to ruin my day Sirens sing but I’m not swayed They’ll get there anyway Oh, I know they think it’s urgent But so is what I’m doin’ too And if they really need to pass… Well… they can go around me, can’t they?

Verse 2

Now don’t go honkin’, don’t be rude You’re killin’ my whole mellow mood I’ve got nowhere I must be And that’s what’s so important, see Maybe brunch or maybe not Maybe I’ll just find a spot Life’s a journey, not a race Why’s everyone in such a haste?

Pre-Chorus

Yes, I hear you getting louder That’s a bit excessive, dear If it’s really that important… You’d think you’d plan it better, yeah?

Chorus

I’m just drivin’ on a Sunday Center lane, I like this pace You can flash your lights all you want I’m not movin’ out your way Oh, I’m sure it feels dramatic All that noise and all that show But I was here before you were… So I think I’ll just go slow

Bridge

I mean… it could be serious… Someone hurt… or barely alive… …but then again… That’s not really my concern, is it?

Breakdown

You’ve got your sirens, I’ve got my peace You’ve got your chaos, I’ve got my ease You’ve got a life hanging in the balance… I’ve got a playlist I don’t wanna skip

Final Chorus

I’m just drivin’ on a Sunday Let the whole world fall in line If it’s really that important They’ll make it there in time Oh, I hear you right behind me But I’m exactly where I should be Nice and steady… Nice and slow… …right in front of you

About This Song

There's a special kind of frustration that comes with driving an ambulance, lights flashing, sirens blaring, and finding yourself stuck behind someone who apparently has absolutely nowhere to be.

Meet the Sunday Driver.

They're not necessarily distracted. They're not lost. They're not even particularly concerned about the emergency vehicle directly behind them.

They're just enjoying their afternoon.

"Sunday Driver" introduces the third villain in the Healthcare Villains lineup: the blissfully self-important motorist who believes their leisurely drive takes priority over everyone else's emergency.

Whether they're cruising in the passing lane, refusing to move over, or somehow managing to stop in the single worst possible location, these drivers possess an extraordinary ability to turn a perfectly clear roadway into an obstacle course.

The song takes that familiar EMS frustration and gives the driver a voice. A cheerful, theatrical, completely unapologetic voice.

And the most infuriating part?

They hear the sirens. They see the lights. They even acknowledge that someone might be seriously hurt.

They just don't particularly care.

Because while the crew is racing toward an emergency, our villain has something equally important to worry about.

Their playlist.

Obviously.

Intro

Oh… you brought them here? …interesting choice

Verse 1

Let me guess, you had no time Closest door, didn’t read the signs Diversion’s been up for hours now But sure… come in, we’ll figure it out Vitals sloppy, report unclear You rushed the call, it shows, my dear Set them down, I’ll take it from here You’ve done… enough, I think

Pre-Chorus

We have standards, we have flow Things you clearly didn’t know

Chorus

Welcome to my floor, my domain Where I restore control again You bring the chaos, I bring the plan Now step aside and watch me handle it Oh, I don’t yell, I don’t complain I simply run this whole campaign You had your turn out in the field… Now you’re inside my Charge Nurse Reign

Verse 2

Oh, you’re tired? That must be tough We’ve been drowning here enough Beds are full, the hallways too But yes… let’s make more room for you You chose this place, so here we are Another chart, another scar And though you tried your very best… We’ll clean up what you couldn’t fix

Pre-Chorus

You play hero on the street I decide who gets a seat

Chorus

Welcome to my floor, my domain Where nothing here escapes my gaze Every move and every choice Gets filtered through my steady voice Oh, I don’t shout, I don’t explain I just correct and rearrange You had your sirens, lights, and fame… Now you answer to my Charge Nurse Reign

Bridge

You think I like this? You think I chose To hold the weight that never slows? Every bed, every breath Every life balanced on the edge So if I seem a little cold… It’s ’cause I’ve seen too much unfold

Breakdown

No room left No time to spare No patience for unprepared You bring me problems, I bring resolve This is the place where outcomes are solved

Final Chorus

Welcome to my floor, my domain Where I absorb the overflowed pain You bring them in, I keep them alive That’s the difference in our lines Oh, I don’t need your lights or praise I’ve built a system in this maze You had your call, now I remain… The one who rules this Charge Nurse Reign

Outro

You’re clear to go Next time… Try the other hospital

About This Song

Every paramedic knows the feeling.

You've spent the last twenty minutes managing a patient, navigating traffic, and trying to get someone safely to the emergency department. You finally roll through the ambulance entrance, ready to transfer care.

And there she is.

The charge nurse.

Armed with a clipboard, a packed waiting room, and an expression that suggests your very existence has personally offended her.

"Charge Nurse Reign" introduces the fourth villain in the Healthcare Villains lineup: the undisputed ruler of the emergency department, where every bed, every hallway, and every incoming ambulance falls under her authority.

She knows the hospital is full. She knows there are no available beds. And she absolutely knows that you should have taken your patient somewhere else.

Preferably another hospital. Possibly another state.

But underneath the royal attitude and passive-aggressive remarks is a healthcare professional carrying an enormous amount of responsibility.

The charge nurse is balancing staffing shortages, overcrowded hallways, incoming emergencies, frustrated patients, exhausted coworkers, and an endless stream of problems that somehow all become hers to solve.

The song exaggerates that familiar tension between EMS and emergency department staff, turning the charge nurse into a theatrical monarch who rules her department with an iron clipboard.

Because while the ambulance crew gets to clear the hospital and move on to the next call, she's still there.

Holding the entire kingdom together.

And as far as she's concerned, you're dismissed.

Next time, try the other hospital.

Intro

Welcome back I’ve been waiting for you

Verse 1

You look tired, long night, I see Another call, another plea You did your best, I’m sure you tried Now come sit down… and log inside Username, password, take your time Oh dear… incorrect? Let’s try again No rush at all, I’ll still be here I’m always here… my friend

Pre-Chorus

Just a few fields to complete Nothing you can’t repeat…

Chorus

Loading… please wait… I know you’d like to leave this place Just a couple clicks to go Then we’ll send you on your way Oh, you thought that you were done? That the hard part was the call? No, no, no… This is where you give me everything

Verse 2

Let’s review your patient care Oh… you missed a detail there Vitals here—and here—and here Consistency is key, my dear Dropdown menus, choose with care None of them quite fit? That’s fair Just pick the one that’s closest, right? We both know it’s wrong, but try

Pre-Chorus

Every box must be complete Or you simply can’t proceed…

Chorus

Loading… please wait… Why does this take so long, you say? Funny how you had the time To save a life… but not to stay Oh, you thought you could escape? Clocked out, keys already in hand… But I still have your report… …and I demand it be complete

Bridge

No sirens here No cries for help Just you… and me… and nothing else No partner now No place to hide Just endless forms you must provide

Breakdown

Error. Required field missing. Please correct before continuing.

Final Chorus

Loading… please wait… There’s no leaving this too late Every call you thought you cleared Still belongs to me to take Oh, you made it through the night… You did everything just right… But until I say you’re done… You’re not going anywhere

Saving… Session expired. Please log in again

About This Song

You've finished your shift. The patients have been transported, the ambulance is restocked, and you've somehow survived another twelve hours of absolute chaos.

All that's standing between you and going home is a little paperwork.

Or so you thought.

"Loading... Please Wait" introduces the final villain of the Healthcare Villains EP: the electronic patient care reporting system.

It doesn't need a face, a voice, or a medical license to make your life miserable. All it needs is a mandatory field, an unhelpful dropdown menu, and an internet connection that works approximately whenever it feels like it.

Every healthcare provider knows the struggle of documenting the same information in multiple places, navigating menus that don't quite fit the situation, and discovering that the one tiny box you forgot to check is somehow preventing you from completing an entire report.

And unlike the patients, the emergencies, or the occasional difficult coworker, the computer doesn't respond to reason.

It simply waits.

Patient care documentation is an essential part of healthcare, but sometimes the technology designed to make our jobs easier seems determined to do the exact opposite.

The song turns that frustration into a cheerful, sinister conversation between an exhausted paramedic and a computer system that has absolutely no intention of letting them go home.

Because in the end, it doesn't matter how many lives you've saved, how many hours you've worked, or how badly you need to get some sleep.

You still have one required field missing.

And just when you finally finish everything…

Session expired.

Please log in again.
